ABOUT US

Hey Montessori Friends!

Welcome to our Montessori family! We’re Ben and Nicole, two parents committed to raising our family using everyday Montessori methods.

Nicole is an experienced artist and former Montessori school teacher, who has now dedicated herself full-time to being a mom and Montessori educator at home.

Ben is a full-time Tech Manager, but he’s also passionate about Montessori principles and actively supports our family’s journey — he was lucky enougy to go to Montessori education during his early days.

Join us on our journey, as we share our experiences, insights, and resources to help others incorporate Montessori principles into their daily lives.

WHAT IS MONTESSORI

Montessori Method

The Montessori Method has a framework for both the learner and the educator. You will see flavors of it on the internet (some are 6, other 8) but they all follow the same core principles.

1. Play is work

Play is fun but we should take it very seriously as it is the way the child expresses themself.

3. Independence

Encourage exploration and teach toddlers to take responsibility for themselves, their belongings, and the environment.

5. Observation

Raising children in the Montessori philosophy means observing them carefully and noticing what they are interested in.

7. Respect

The Montessori method is about mutual respect between the child and the parent.

2. Prepared environment

The Montessori environment should also be structured and have the order. Children love order — even if it doesn’t fell that way.

4. Hands-on learning

Children learn through experience. The child is able to learn new things effortlessly and unconsciously, just by being in the right environment

6. Freedom within limits

Freedom doesn’t mean children can do whatever they want. It means we give them the opportunity to choose freely from the options we approve
