Small cleaning cloths
Cloths are what make spills a normal part of work rather than an interruption that needs you.

- 2–3, 3–4, 4–5 years
Put this to work this week
A week gives you what to gather, one change at home and one thing to observe. It starts with four short questions.
What it isolates
A cloth sized to a child's hand and reach.
Household and DIY options first
Substitutes come before anything to buy, with the trade-off stated.
Cut-up old towels
Cut into 15cm squares and hem or overlock the edges.
Trade-off: Fray if unfinished.
Face cloths
Use as they are.
Trade-off: Sometimes too thick to wring out.
Keep a stack of six within your child's reach, and a basket for used ones.
If you do buy it
- Small enough to wring out with two hands
- Absorbent
- Washes hot
When to skip it
There is no reason to buy Montessori-branded cloths.
